R W Leather, products start with American, vegetable tanned, full grain leather to assure our end product will be the best leather belt you can buy. Plus, stainless steel and solid brass buckles, combined with Heavy nylon thread for stitched belts. Serving our customers with the best of both world's. Since 1994, we’ve spent countless hours in research, therefore all of our belts are of the utmost quality
The beauty is in the natural unaltered grain of the leather, wrinkles, healed scars & scratches etc. Every marking is character with a story. We don’t try to hide character markings, our customers love it. Always receiving comment's about the special “feel” of our leather belts after they have some wear. They become a part of you. It’s all about starting with full-grain American vegetable-tanned steer hide that has received a minimum of alteration. The way I see it, our customers want and deserve a product that is of the utmost in quality, workmanship and leather. The same goes for the buckles & thread. If you hold one of our belts & buckles, you’ll immediately be able to tell the difference. So goes for all of the materials that we use.
Many people don’t realize it, but there are a lot of different grades of leather, which range from the strongest and most beautiful to little more than scraps glued together. You can make every hide look the same, by sanding the top grain, applying a pigmented finish, coating it with spray to make it look shiny. That is not our version of leather.
Refers to hides that the top grain has not been sanded or buffed.
The bottom grain has not been altered or skived off.
Shows all it's beautiful characteristics and natural grains.
By far the best, most durable and strongest leather.
Expensive, yet easy to work with and will last forever.
Found in all of R W Leather's belts.
Refers to the process of sanding away the natural top grain of the leather.
Imitation grain gets stamped into the leather to give a more uniform look.
Refinished with pigmented dye to cover blemishes, but does not age well.
Cheaper in price, less durable and more difficult to work with.
Doesn't just mean that the product is made of real leather (which it is), but it also means it is the lowest quality of all products made out of real leather. Genuine leather generally doesn't last as long or look as nice as higher quality leather. Of the various possible grains and cuts, it's at the bottom of the list, though.
Bonded leather is actually a mix of both real and fake leather. It is made by grinding leftover scraps and fibers, processed with a polyurethane binder. These fibers are then rolled together using adhesives to bond them onto a paper backing. Cracks with use and degrades quickly.
